[NEW BOOK ALERT] Do IT Anyway

INTRODUCTION

I jumped down from one of the large shelves in my wardrobe with beads of sweat trailing down my forehead and temples and all the way down my neck. I think I had sat in there for at least 40 minutes doing what I felt I had to do to create the best work I could, with what I had. It was a good thing I weighed less than 50kg at the time (I probably still do. lol) else that shelf would have given way and my little secret would have been exposed – before I was ready for the world to find out.

Yes, that’s where the Success Smoothie Podcast was born and I’m glad I started anyway. My willingness to take those first few steps towards building a global audience of millions of upwardly mobile young people committed to continuous personal and professional development has not only strengthened my confidence to launch other personal initiatives, but it has also positioned me to attract more resources and relationships that are making it easier for me to pursue that dream.

And in case you’re wondering why I chose to take the awkward position of sitting curled up on a shelf in my standing wardrobe (all in the name of recording my podcast episodes), over sitting pretty on a seat in my home. Well… I read this blog post by someone who claimed recording in a walk-in closet surrounded by hanging clothes was an inexpensive way to create decent quality audio while recording at home. So, since all I had was my standing wardrobe and since God seems to have blessed me with the ability to eat whatever I like without putting on much weight,I decided to give it a shot only to discover that I preferred the sound quality of the work I recorded in there to the sound quality of a sample I recorded elsewhere. So yeah, that’s how my journey as a podcaster started and I shared that story just to buttress this one point…

Dear reader, your big dreams will remain a figment of your imagination if you let fear or excuses keep you from taking the first step and then the second and the third and the many others that’ll invariably lead you to your desired destination/goal/dreams!

Is that what you want?

To go year after year wondering what would have happened if you only had the courage to act on that idea you once were so passionate about?

Or

To go into your future only to see someone excelling at the very thing you thought of doing, hoped to do but never did because you let fear and indecision hold you back?

I doubt that. As I write this, I’m super confident that you have this book in your hands because you’re not just a dreamer, but a dreamer who’s willing to put in the work to see your dreams come true. If not, you’d have passed up the opportunity to open this book or even read this far and for this I must celebrate you.

I celebrate you for having the courage to dream big. Many other people are pessimists, never thinking that things can be any better than they are, but that’s not you.

I also celebrate you for cultivating the discipline to read. For all great men and women throughout the ages have been readers. And by reading this, you’re doing something that all great people do and that truly says a lot about you and the quality of person that you’re working on becoming.

However, in my work as a personal development thought leader and life coach, I’m constantly reminded of the reality that too many people (regardless of their age), have big dreams but never act on these ideas and dreams because of limiting beliefs, fears and indecision. They may give seemingly legitimate excuses as to why they haven’t begun to act on their big ideas or dreams. But when you quiz them further, the truth rises to the top of their consciousness and falls out of their lips – they’re just afraid and that fear has held them hostage.

That’s why I decided to write this book to inspire you to ditch the fears and limiting beliefs that have been paralyzing you from taking a chance on yourself by acting on your ideas. Every story, lesson and actionable strategy in here was written with the sole intention to inspire you to begin NOW to take action towards doing the great things you’ve aspired to do.

For like legendary entrepreneur and co-founder of Apple Inc. once said:

“When you grow up you tend to get told that the world

is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a

nice family life, have fun, save a little money.

That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader

once you discover one simple fact:

Everything around you that you call life was

made up by people that were no

smarter than you. And you can change it,

you can influence it…

Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”
― Steve Jobs

Yes, I don’t have $50million in assets yet. But I’ve done a couple of things in my life that many people around the world wish and hope they could do too but can’t seem to because they’re being held back by the deafening chatter of fears and limiting beliefs such as:

“You can’t because …”

“You shouldn’t because …”

“There’s no need to try because after all …”

“What if you fail?”

“What if no one likes what you create or you get all these negative reviews?”

And on and on those nasty tapes play in their heads and invariable keep them from gifting the world with those gifts that only they can gift our world.

Those dear souls my friend, are the people for whom I’ve written this piece and if you happen to be one of them let it be clear that I love you and I want to see you absolutely do the great things you’ve been aspiring to do.

That said, please dive right in and read this like a love letter from me to you. But even more importantly, be sure to quickly ACT on what you learn, knowing full well that you can and that I’m rooting for you to win.

Remarkably yours,

Ify.
